Faith in Tough Times
The 2020 Tale of the Tombstones Cemetery Walk, which was previously scheduled for October 18, will be held at Forest Home Cemetery this Sunday, October 25.
During this challenging time we are all living through, this year's "Tale of the Tombstones" spotlights stories of people who themselves faced daunting challenges. Their stories of grit, passion, tragedy, and faith in a greater power and in their friends, family, and community show us that we can overcome our challenges—and that better times lie ahead.
This year, all guides and visitors will be required to wear masks or face coverings and maintain social distancing throughout the tour. Tours will depart from the cemetery's main gate in 10-minute intervals between 12 and 1:30 p.m., and the tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. Each group is limited to no more than 20 people.
You must purchase tickets before the day of the event. Those who have not registered in advance and confirmed with us via email or phone will be turned away.
Tickets are $15 ($10 for Historical Society members). To purchase tickets, visit our online store. You can also contact us on our website with your name, the number of tickets you want to purchase, and your preferred tour time, and we will get back to you about payment.
This event is subject to changes in public health guidelines, and we will update information here if we need to modify the event.
Even if you cannot attend this year's walk, you can purchase a copy of the Historical Society's book, "Nature's Choicest Spot," highlighting the history and many of the famous folks laid to rest at Forest Home Cemetery.
