Description

Lew Pope was one of the stars who led his OPRF High School football team to an undefeated season in autumn 1937. Now, 85 years later, Lew Pope’s story will be told in dramatic fashion at his alma mater, shedding light on the discrimination that kept him off the playing field at what should have been the crowning moment of his high school football experience.

Join us on Sunday Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. for the premiere of “The Ebony Streak,” a reader’s theater production of a play written by Oak Parker Kevin Bry, a playwright and local attorney. The play was previewed at the Historical Society’s Annual Meeting in June, and November 6 will be the debut of the show in its entirety.

The performance will be held in the Little Theater at OPRF High School. Admission is free. This event is sponsored by the Oak Park and River Forest High School Alumni Association.
