Please join us at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 for a Gallery Discussion about the Proud Oak Parkers: OPALGA+ at 30 exhibit at Oak Park River Forest Museum, 129 Lake Street in Oak Park.
This will also launch the new publication, The Oak Park Lesbian and Gay Association: Stories from the History-Making First Decade.
Twenty early OPALGA members have written stories recalling the dramatic days when OPALGA was formed, focusing on why and how OPALGA came about, community connections, advocacy and obtaining civil rights protections, and how OPALGA programs developed and evolved. These stories include personal anecdotes, humor, community remembrances as well as how the organization developed.
The museum opens at 11 a.m, so come early and see the full exhibit! This event is free to OPRF Museum members. Admission for non-members is $5 for Oak Park and River Forest residents, $7 for non-residents, and $3 for students.
