Description

Chicago was host to two world fairs, held 40 years apart. Each will be the subject of an upcoming discussion by our History Book Club, led by writer, teacher, and librarian Doug Deuchler.

On Thursday, May 25, readers will discuss Broken Icarus: The 1933 Chicago World's Fair, the Golden Age of Aviation, and the Rise of Fascism by David Hanna. According to Amazon.com, "In Broken Icarus, author David Hanna tracks the inspiring trajectory of aviation leading up to and through the World’s Fair of 1933, as well as the field of flight’s more sinister ties to domestic and international fascism to present a unique history that is both riveting and revelatory."

Space is limited. To reserve your place, please email oprfhistorymatters@sbcglobal.net or call 708-848-6755.

And join us in June for our discussion of The Devil in the White City...
